Our second Himalayan Youth Gathering in July revealed a wealth of talent and energy and CGLF promised to offer further training to participants. Our wonderful facilitators MC Cheong, Leo, Lily, Mahendra and Lopön Urgyen Dorje were reunited this month to run two days of leadership and project management training.
After morning prayers each day there was a packed programme of talks and group work. MC Cheong Day began with inspiration and vision, sharing the different types of leadership and qualities of great leaders.
Presentations on how to manage projects and take decisions, managing teams, processes and knowledge were interspersed with group and teambuilding activities. Small groups built an oil rig (main picture) using recycled materials, putting negotiation, time management ane communication skills into action. They thought about future Himalyan Youth Gatherings, brainstorming visions and missions, risks, challenges ( and strategies to overcome them), and took personality tests to determine their individual leadership styles.
Lopön Urgyen Dorje put the training into the context of practical compassion with his dharma talk. Participants finally prepared for action by getting ready to to join CGLF social projects and act as facilitators for the next Youth Gathering later this year.
Later the group met with Kyabgön Phakchok Rinpoche and Khandro la to hear Rinpoches’ vision for the future.
Our thanks to all our contributors and participants. may these seeds of inspiration grow into forests of activity!
